ON FEBRUARY 2 2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 1220HRS, I WAS CONTACTED BY ********** WHO STATED HE LIVES IN MONTANTA BUT OWNS A VACATION HOME IN QUEEN CREEK, AZ AND REQUESTED SURVEILLANE ON THE PROPERTY DUE TO UNUSUAL ACTIVITY.

DURING INITIAL INTERVIEW WITH **********, HE SAID HE HAS OWNED THIS HOME FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS AND HE AND HIS WIFE STAY AT THE RESIDENCE USUALLY FROM OCT TILL MARCH. DUE TO COVID HE DID NOT COME BACK DOWN TO ARIZONA IN THE FALL OF 2020 SO HE HIRED A COMPANY TO PERFORM PERIODIC CHECKS ON THE HOME TO ENSURE THERE WERE NO MAJOR ISSUES. BETWEEN NOV 2020 AND JAN 2021, **********, WHICH WAS THE COMPANY CONDUCTING CHECKS ON HIS HOME, HAD REPORTED VARIOUS ISSUES ON THE PROPERTY WHICH ALARMED HIM SUCH AS RANDOM LIGHTS BEING FOUND ON AND EXTERIOR GATES BEING LEFT OPEN. HE TOLD US ONLY HE AND HIS WIFE HAVE KEYS AND HE HAS NOT GIVEN ANYONE PERMISSION TO BE ON HIS PROPERTY.

I CONTACTED ********** AND SPOKE WITH ********** WHO STATED OUR CLIENT HAD A CONTRACT WITH THEM STATING HIS HOME WAS TO BE CHECKED 3 TIMES A WEEK ON RANDOM DAYS AND AT A TIME BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 6PM AND 6AM. CONTACT WAS THEN MADE WITH **********, THE EMPLOYEE WHO CONDUCTED ALMOST ALL OF THE CHECKS ON THE HOME, AND ASKED HIM TO EXPLAIN HIS PROCESS FOR CHECKING THE HOME SO I COULD ENSURE HE WAS CONDUCTING PROPERTY CHECKS AND NOT JUST NOTICING THINGS THAT WERE MISSED ON THE PREVIOUS CHECK. **********’S DOCUMENTATION OF HIS CHECKS WERE DETERMINED TO BE RELIABLE AND HIS DOCUMENTATION OF HIS CHECKS WERE VERY PRECISE AND PROPERLY DOCUMENTED USING MEASURES SUCH AS GPS STAMPED PHOTOGRAPHS. I ASKED HIM TO EXPLAIN WHAT INCIDENTS HE ENCOUNTERED AT THE PROPERTY AND HE SAID THERE WERE SEVERAL BUT THREE STOOD OUT. THE FIRST INVOLVED THE FRONT PORCH LIGHTS BEING FOUND ON, THE SECOND WAS THE SIDE GATES WHICH LEAD TO THE BACKYARD WERE BOTH FOUND OPEN AND THE THIRD WAS WHEN A LARGE PLANT POT LOCATED NEAR THE GARAGE HAD BEEN MOVED APPROXIMATELY 5’. ********** STATED THERE WAS NEVER ANY EVIDENCE OF CRIME AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS NEVER CONTACTED.

 

ON FEBRUARY 10 2021 I WENT TO ********** RESIDENCE TO DO AN INITIAL ASSESSMENT OF THE HOME AND TO CONTACT ANY RESIDENTS IN NEIGHBORING HOMES WHO MAY HAVE WITNESSED ANYTHING UNUSUAL. THE PROPERTY HAS A TOTAL OF 2 ACRES OF LAND AND THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF ANY HOME IN THE AREA. I CONTACTED **********, WHO IS THE NEIGHBOR DIRECTLY TO THE NORTH AND ALSO CONTACTED ********** WHO IS THE NEIGHBOR DIRECTLY TO THE EAST AND NEITHER ONE OF THEM REPORTED SEEING ANYONE UNUSUAL AT ANYTIME IN THE AREA AND BOTH STATED THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD ANYTHING UNUSUAL AT XXXXX’S RESIDENCE. XXXX STATED THEY DO HAVE ********** PHONE NUMBER AND WOULD HAVE REPORTED ANYTHING TO HIM IF THEY DID.

SURVEILLANCE OF THE PROPERTY WAS CONDUCTED ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS. THE FIRST TIME WAS ON FEBRUARY 12 DURING THE HOURS OF 1500HRS TILL 1800HRS, THE SECOND WAS ON FEBRUARY 15 DURING THE EVENING BETWEEN 1800HRS AND 2100HRS AND THE THIRD WAS ON A FEBRUARY 20 FROM 0200HRS AND 0500HRS. ON FEBRUARY 12, I ARRIVED ON THE PROPERTY AND SET UP TWO DIFFERENT CAMERAS, ONE WAS PLACED IN THE FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE AND ONE PLACED IN THE REAR OF THE RESIDENCE,  BOTH OF WHICH COULD BE VIEWED ON MY PHONE. I THEN CONDUCTED A THOROUGH CHECK OF THE PROPERTY AND DOCUMENTED THE STATUS OF DOORS, WINDOWS, GATES, LIGHTING AND THE POSITION OF VARIOUS ITEMS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE RESIDENCE. WHILE I MONITORED THE CAMERA FOOTAGE, I ALSO POSITIONED MYSELF IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS ON THE PROPERTY. NOTHING UNUSUAL WAS SEEN OR HEARD DURING THE TIME ON PROPERTY. THE CAMERAS WERE LEFT ON-SITE AND SET TO RECORD MOTION.

UPON ARRIVAL ON FEBRUARY 15, I NOTICED THE TRASH BIN HAD BEEN MOVED FROM THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO THE STREET. (TRASH PICKUP FOR THIS RESIDENCE IS ON THURSDAY MORNING SO PEOPLE PUT THEIR TRASH OUT ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT). I CHECKED THE WEST SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO ENSURE THIS WAS THE TRASH BIN THAT BELONGS TO THE HOME AND IT WAS. I THEN CHECKED INSIDE THE TRASH BIN AND IT WAS EMPTY SO I CONTACTED XXXXX TO SEE IF HE KNEW OF ANYONE WHO WOULD HAVE DONE THIS AND HE SAID NO. I THEN CONTACTED BOTH NEIGHBORS AND NEITHER ONE OF THEM SAID THEY HAD MOVED IT. BOTH CAMERA RECORDINGS WERE CHECKED AND THERE WAS NO MOTION SEEN ON CAMERA BUT THE AREA WHERE THE TRASH CAN WAS LOCATED WAS DARK AND THE PATH TO THE ROADWAY WAS NOT IN CAMERA RANGE. AT 1930HRS, I POSITIONED MYSELF IN THE FRONT AREA OF THE PROPERTY NEAR THE ROADWAY AND AT APPROXIMATELY 2000HRS, THE LIGHT TO ONE OF THE INTERIOR ROOMS ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE HOME TURNED ON. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND UPON THEIR ARRIVAL APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER, AN EXTERIOR CHECK OF THE HOME WAS COMPLETED BUT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FORCED ENTRY AND ALL EXTERIOR DOORS AND WINDOWS WERE CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE LOCKED. XXXXX WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED. I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD EVER EXPERIENCED ELECTICAL ISSUES IN THE HOME AND HE SAID NO. 

ON FEBRUARY 20, I ARRIVED AT APPROXIMATELY 0200HRS AND THE LIGHT THAT HAD BEEN SEEN TURNING ON, WAS NOW OFF. AN EXTERIOR CHECK OF THE HOME WAS CONDUCTED AND ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS WERE SECURE. NOTHING INSIDE THE HOME APPEARED TO BE DISTURBED. NOTHING ELSE UNUSUAL WAS SEEN OR HEARD DURING THIS CHECK.

I OBTAINED THE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE RESIDENCE WITH THE INTENT OF ASKING IF THEY HAD EXPERIENCED ANY SIMILAR SITUATIONS. I FOUND **********, THE PREVIOUS OWNER, HAD PASSED AWAY INSIDE THE RESIDENCE 10 MONTHS PRIOR TO ********** PURCHASE OF THE HOME. **********, WHO IS THE SON OF THE PREVIOUS HOME OWNER, WAS THE ONE WHO HAD SOLD THE PROPERTY TO ********** A. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO CONTACT ********** VIA PHONE AND EMAIL BUT NO RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED.

********** WAS PROVIDED WITH SURVEILLANCE RESULTS AND DECLINED CONTINUED SURVEILLANCE. THIS CASE WAS CLOSED AND FILED IN OUR 918 FILES DUE TO THE UNUSUAL FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT.
