When retired investigator Charles Gwillam takes a call from a small innkeeper in Tombstone, Arizona, he expects another tourist tall tale. Instead, he finds a year’s worth of witness reports describing the same figure: a tall man in a duster coat and wide-brimmed hat, walking Allen Street after midnight.
 
The townsfolk say it matches a deputy marshal gunned down more than a century ago. Charles doesn’t like ghost cases—he prefers facts, not footsteps—but one night on the boardwalk changes everything.
